AutoBG is a program for Windows 7 which dynamically generates images to be used in a desktop background slideshow. When windows (or the user) goes to the next background slide, the program will create a new image to be used next. To use the program, first unzip to a folder anywhere you wish to place the program, then run Background.exe. Within seconds you should see jpg1.jpg and jpg2.jpg appear in the folder. Right click on your desktop and go to Personalize. Select Desktop Background. Under Picture Location, click the Browse button. Navigate to the folder where you unzipped this program. Select jpg1.jpg and jpg2.jpg and set the desired time interval. The click Save Changes. Now you're done. You can also update the slide manually by right clicking the desktop and selecting Next Desktop Background. To interact with the program, right-click on the entry in the taskbar. From here you can select which program to use to generate the background. Some of these programs have options, which you can also modify. You can turn the program on and off, set it to start with Windows and save the current background. The current programs include: Mandelbrot Set: Generates a picture from the Mandelbrot set. This may be slow on older computers or high-res monitors. Time and Date: Displays the current time and date. This is intended mainly as a sample program. Webpage: Loads a webpage (to change the page, see Background Options), and displays it statically. Defaults to a random xkcd comic. Nat Geo PotD: Sets the background to the National Geographic picture of the day. This program is open source, licensed under the Creative Commons license, so please modify it to your own liking, and add programs you enjoy.
