/mnt is a directory for manually mounting a filesystem for a _short_
period. The same sort of thing that some idiots use /tmp/mnt for
(They will lose a filesystem oneday)

There is no standard directory to hold lots of mounts so depending on
how picky a sysadmin is possible locations are:

/mnts
/amnt
/var/automount/

and so on.
