Also I just want to note it is only very recently (july or august)
that googlecode supported git, but it is good that it is now an
option.

While the number of new projects that use git vs svn are rising and a
lot of projects are switching over, it is still considerable work and
or frustration to learn git coming from svn.
So for now, git-svn seems like a good choice.  Maybe we should
consider switching when/if more team devs 'naturally' migrate to git.
