For users of screen readers, rather than an inconvenience, it would be an advantage to have to use a shortcut to start a label, because otherwise it's just too easy to accidentally create a label (and not immediately notice that this has happened). When this has been discussed in the past, James suggested having an option in preferences as to whether a shortcut was needed.
