Update
I've also tried the updated DLL from
http://www.gaclrecords.org.uk/nf_lame_enc.dll
This version does not work with my Audacity 1.2.6 version either.

I have also done a clean install onto a brand new clean install Windows XP
SP3 and the Audacity version of Lame is still not found!

There have been a lot of reports of this issue on the forum:

As this is not an uncommon problem, wouldn't it be a good idea to have a
