Well, if you think of a wiki as something that anyone can edit, you'll notice that there is no such think as wiki translation, unless the translated versions are static versions of the English. What I mean is that even if you translate the English page into Italian, another Italian contributor might come along and add a lot of Italian content that is not in the English, and vice versa. Now imagine this situation with 10 languages. Eventually the content of each language version will be so different, and they will develop and split and merge in different ways. Is this truly what you want? I guess one way to encourage independent editing in multiple languages is to have a core set of information (in English) that is translated, and that any additions to pages in other languages must be done in a separate section of the page, so that there is a clear distinction between content that is independently submitted and content which must be a true reflection of the English version. So I guess the first priority is to decide on a policy with regard to the above. When that is decided, we can look at various ways of dealing with it.
