Two years ago, my team and I introduced the first version of the FTP functionality into Audacity. It was meant to be a convenience for podcasters who were coming into the scene at the time. They were looking for a simple way to record, save and upload audio files to their server. Our motivation was very simple. If users embrace the functionality, then keep it and refine it. Otherwise, the functionality never gets out of beta. I don't think any of us wants to see Audacity turn into bloatware. Inversely, how do you authoritatively finish the following sentence? "Audacity is designed to do only certain tasks, and they are..." I personally think that it's great that there are people who are innovating and making Audacity do things that it doesn't do yet as long as those new features are thoroughly tested and stable. Keep innovating, and let the marketplace decide. Regards, Wing Yu CEO, FinancialContent, Inc. http://www.financialcontent.com http://www.streetiq.com 650.286.9702 |
