Hello, I am trying to use Audacity 1.2.1 on a Debian Testing (Sarge)
system. The playback works ok, but the recording doesn't. I am able to
choose the recording source (I would like to use mic), and I see the
selection reflected on KMix when it's open at the same time. The
recording levels are not equals to 0 (I've tried several levels with the
same result). When I try to record a new file, the bar starts moving as
if the recording had started, but the waves are flat, and nothing seems
to be really recorded. When I try to record a new track, with an
existing track opened, the speakers do "top-top-top-top-top-top..." and
the bar does not move. I have also tried to record using KRecord, and I
get the same problem, speakers making noise but nothing (not even the
noise) being recorded. Does someone know where does that problem comes
from? I believe it must be some permission problem on /dev/dsp, but its
permissions are -rw-rw----, it belongs to the group audio, and I'm a
member of that group!
Thanks for any help.
