Good idea -- we thought the same thing, so we've changed this for the
next version of Audacity.

1) A while ago, the additional export to command (such as toolame for
layer 2 compression)
was being worked out on Linux and not supported on Windows. Has anything
this since? (I think I have an easy way to do it for Windows, just need
time to play with it)
2) Supposedly Ogg's frame format makes it easy to cut on frames and not
ruin the track/cause
huge sound anomalies. Is Ogg-native splicing an option for the future?
Also, it's supposed to
be easy to convert from higher to lower bitrates without re-encoding -
their "onion" effect.
Here, a multiple bitrates save might be useful.
