I've been poking around with Audacity for a couple years to replace
my need for CoolEdit (before I ran Linux). Finally it seems to be
able to record while playing other tracks and keep synced up perfectly!
Y'all have been putting a lot of hard work in to it and it shows.
I'm a musician of sorts who likes to lay down several tracks of
ideas and various clips of assorted instruments and rearrange/mix
later. I've noticed that when I have about 15 or so tracks the
playback seems to start getting very choppy even when all but
3 or 4 are muted.
I was wondering if an option for "archive track" could be implemented
where Audacity would totally ignore those tracks for the current
playback thus not requiring CPU for mixing.
I've added that request to both feature voting areas, but wanted
to touch base on the mailing list about it too, since it's a real
show stopper at the moment and seems like something fairly easy
