I found some issues that affects mac-os only, i'll have to sit and see where in the po file is the wrong string.... Will there be a rc5? or shoul I run like theres no tomorrow to get this done, like.... in next 5 mins? :) thks 2012/8/21 Vaughan Johnson <va...@au...>: > Release Candidate 2.0.2rc4 downloads are posted. Theres something wrong here... Using a MacOS system, some strings are 'untranslatable' they don't even appear in th po file. You have the apple logo, then Audacity menu. There it says: ''Preferences'' in english, even if I change the language to italian, as an example. At the same menu, ''Window'' is in english yet, Minimize, Zoom, Bring to front, all in english. And the Menu Help is not translated (as it would appear Ajuda inn the translated file) Where should I poke to change those strings? thanks Cleber 2012/8/23 Cleber Tavano <cle...@gm...>: > I found some issues that affects mac-os only, i'll have to sit and see > where in the po file is the wrong string.... > > Will there be a rc5? or shoul I run like theres no tomorrow to get > this done, like.... in next 5 mins? :) > > thks > > 2012/8/21 Vaughan Johnson <va...@au...>: >> Release Candidate 2.0.2rc4 downloads are posted. Audacity uses wxWidgets 2.8.x. It may happen that the translation for wxWidgets is not installed or translation was missing at the time of 2.8.x release. Hope this helps. Thanks, guys. I don't think this warrants an rc5, although it's not clear to me how widespread it is, or whether it's OS X only. Cleber, is this a new thing, e.g., isn't the same true of 2.0.1? - Vaughan On 8/23/2012 3:36 AM, Yuri Chornoivan wrote: > Thu, 23 Aug 2012 13:25:19 +0300 було написано Cleber Tavano > <cle...@gm...>: > >> Theres something wrong here... >> >> Using a MacOS system, some strings are 'untranslatable' they don't >> even appear in th po file. >> >> You have the apple logo, then Audacity menu. This is true for 2.0.0 and 2.0.1, so Paul needs to look at this - I've Cc'd him. The wxstd-translated parts seem to be working as well as they usually do on Windows. I'm inclined to agree we don't need an rc5 for this as it is no worse than 2.0.0. Gale > On 8/23/2012 3:36 AM, Yuri Chornoivan wrote: > > Thu, 23 Aug 2012 13:25:19 +0300 ???? ???????? I am guessing you may have to amend xcode so that it runs the required msgfmt operation to build the wxstd.mo files then puts each in the correct locale folder, in a similar way that you currently build the .mo files for each locale folder. If it helps, this is what Leland did to build the wxstd.mo files on Windows from the current installation of Widgets: http://code.google.com/p/audacity/source/detail?r=11372 . > For future reference and the benefit of people trying to build from > the source, should a copy of wxstd.po by in the Audacity source tree? Yes at least Martyn and I are in favour of that. This would allow translators to make their own localised wxstd.po for those locales where widgets provides no translated wxstd file. Vaughan, Sorry, I don't know if it happened in the other versions, I just installed a macOS system... I thought it was WX-related, but when I checked the WX site, it says that it's 100% translated for pt-br... Maybe the po file in Auda is not the latest one from WX? Thks! When I build wxMac none of the .mo files get built. Not a big problem I can just run "make allmo" on the makefile in locale. The problem is more on installing them in WX_PREFIX/share/local. I've written a little bash script to do it for me (and rename the files as they go to wxstd.mo) but I can guarantee that by the time I build the next version of wxMac I will have completely forgotten about this. So my question is, is this a peculiarity of wxMax, not putting the mo files in locale/XX/LC_MESSAGES or is this a feature which my Windows and Linux brethren have their own ways of dealing with? The next nightly should have the missing wxstd.mo files. This assumes that I've built and copied the mo files correctly. I think it's working! Any help or insight greatly appreciated. I had a look at this in Mac in Paul's latest Nightly Build - thanks for making the changes, Paul. The addition of the wxstd.mo files to the folders for each locale in "Languages" seems to be working, on the basis that it translates two of the buttons in the "Save Changes?" dialogue when you quit a project. For any locale, the titles "Window" and "Help" in the Audacity menu bar are not translated. The wxstd.po files do not change this. I assume it is a problem you should report to Widgets, as there is no string for "Window" in: http://svn.wxwidgets.org/svn/wx/wxWidgets/trunk/locale/wxstd.pot . For any locale, the contents of the "Audacity" menu is not translated except for "About Audacity" (so, "Preferences" is not translated). The contents of the "Window" menu is not translated. Again I assume these are (at least mostly) Widgets problems, for example there is no Widgets string for "Bring all to front" in the "Window" Menu. The contents of the "Help" menu is translated, even for pt_BR, so if Cleber sees otherwise it must be some local problem on his machine. Having glanced at wxstd.po and seen how little of it is relevant to Audacity (mainly a few of the "stockitems") I would now figure we'd have to indicate which of the items need translation if we were to commit it to the Audacity sources. On Linux as I understand it, the wxstd.mo files are read from the wx2.8-i18n package (if it is installed on the user's system) and are not released with Audacity. On Windows, Leland had to make the changes you saw to get the wxstd.mo files put into the Audacity locale folders; the wxstd.mo files were added manually at release, prior to that. Would it be an idea to commit your wxstd.mo script to the "mac" folder in the Audacity sources, with a note about it in "mac/compile.txt"? The problem I'm having is that none of them get installed to my wxMac area. It may well be that I'm missing an option to configure to get it to do this but I can't see one. The Xcode project assumes that they've been built and installed with the rest of wxMac so either I'm doing something wrong or wxMac has changed in the last couple of versions. I think I've still got a couple of old version hanging around so I'll see what they do. As for my script, it's certainly not ready yet for release but if necessary I"ll tidy it up and add it to the Audacity tree. Does anything need to happen other than a copy of wxstd.po being put into the locale folder? It doesn't need to be renamed or anything like that? If this is the case I'll get my build script to insert it. For future reference and the benefit of people trying to build from the source, should a copy of wxstd.po by in the Audacity source tree?
