IMO it would be more logical to have the splash screen appear after the user actioned the VST dialogue and the dialogue disappeared, rather than have the splash screen appear then be covered by the VST dialogue. However as the behaviour is now, delaying the splash screen would mean delaying the taskbar button until the VST dialogue appears. I presume the length of that delay depends on the number of VST's Audacity has to detect before displaying the dialogue. The delay is about 1 -2 seconds here with 50 plug-ins, but could be longer if users have lots of plug-ins and a slow computer. I think it's a consistency of experience problem more than a practical one. If the splash screen followed the VST dialogue, could we have a taskbar button that read "Detecting VST plug-ins..." before the VST dialogue appeared? Gale |
