If your computer has a "line in" or "sound in" or "microphone" input,
you can use that to connect a microphone or other source. You may need
a small adapter from an electronics store if your guitar or mike has a
different type of connector (computers usually use 1/8-inch miniplugs).
If your laptop does not have any sound input ports, you can add inputs
with a USB audio device. A simple USB device like the Griffin iMic
costs about $30:
