Hello. I recorded just over an hour of spoken word on Audacity 1.2.3. on my Laptop that uses Windows Me. I recorded it on 9 tracks which I then cut and pasted to track 1 to make one long continous track. When I played it back the track looked right but kept coming on for a few seconds and then cutting out then coming on for a few seconds (ie sound, silence, sound, siilnce) I didn't know why this was, its never done it before. I thought it might be the other 8 empty tracks interferring in some way so I started to delete them. When I deleted the 3rd one a message popped up saying Audacity would close down and it did. When I reloaded Audacity it gave the message about do I want to delete temp files - I clicked no. I then went online to your help section and tried to recover the temp files manually as per your instructions.
However, I don't seem to be able to open the temp files. When I click open the Import Audio window disappears and I just have the standard Audacity screen. I know the temp files are there as I found them with explorer. They are called b00000 to b00394. At 10 secs each file this is 66 mins. How can I recover the files and why was I getting the cutting out in the first place? Can it be corrected? Please help as I fear all this happening again if I try to re-record my work. Many thanks Kathy
