| If you uninstall Audacity, you can't change the Windows Soundvolume!
Not true, though when Audacity is open (either formally installed or merely
extracted from a zip folder) the output volume slider controls the WAVE
output for the whole system. If you cannot change the WAVE output in the
system mixer (e.g. the Audio tab of Sounds and Audio Devices in the Control
Panel), then you had a sound driver problem all along and you need to update
the sound device drivers following these instructions:
