Having recently downloaded the above programme, after reading much about =
it in mags such as Computeractive, I'm having a few teething troubles - =
I hope you can help.
I am trying to record from a minidisc player onto my hard disk, with a =
view to sound editing. Hoping to improve sound quality for this and =
other music programmes, I recently upgraded from the on-board sound to =
an EMU 0404 internal soundcard, which would also give me a digital =
connection from the minidisc. Sadly Audacity doesn't seem to recognise =
the EMU - it shows in the Audio I/O preferences, and I can select it OK, =
but then there is no pull-down menu to select input - just a grey box.=20
I then tried re-setting the preferences to the internal soundcard, and =
it seemed to work fine, and I was able to obtain an analogue signal via =
the mini-jack plug connector.
So, two questions :
1. How do I get Audacity to activate my new soundcard, and will it =
accept a digital input?
2. My initial recordings sounded "thin" and lacking in bass compared to =
the source - could this be the "File Formats" setting? It seems to =
default to Wav 32 bit float, but there's 8 bit and 16 bit on offer as =
Any advice would be much appreciated.
