Sweep has scrubbing tool, but then it's an in-RAM editor, not a hard

Personally I find the 3db steps of the current track level controls
adequate because there are other ways of doing more subtle level
But I can see how both these wishlist items could be achieved with an
optional floating mixer window with much longer mixer strips.
Ultimately, you could have a dual monitor setup with tracks in one
window and mixer in another. (Of course on Linux you can do this with
one monitor and multiple desktops - that's how we run Audacity, with
the envy24control mixer in a second Blackbox workspace).

Any decent soundcard should have good OS-level meters - envy24control
again. M Audio do a similar mixer for Mac and Windows. I'm all in
favour of keeping Audacity as streamlined as possible, in the
inevitable face of infinite feature requests!
