Since nobody complained, I committed my toolbar fixes. They change a
bunch of files, but fix a lot of little bugs.
The mixer toolbar should now behave just like the edit toolbar. You can
float or dock it. You can turn it off entirely in the preferences
(maybe should be considered for default distribution). In order to get
the new menu option, you probably need to remove commands.cfg or maybe
just hit the preferences and resave them (I'm not sure if the second one
Dragging the toolbar now works reasonably well again. It drags the
image near the mouse. The hotspot calculations got too confusing for me
(maybe something changed in wxWin2.3/4?), so now the drag image attaches
to the mouse at its upper left-hand corner, instead of where you
clicked. It shouldn't be too hard to fix, but I ran out of patience and
I also fixed the toolbar horizontal sizes.
When you drag the toolbar off the project, there are WM-specific issues
in unix. Sawfish in Gnome2 doesn't appear to position things right.
Metacity will sometimes drop the toolbar below the application.
I'm hoping that the new wxWindows will allow somebody to make these into
native toolbars. It should make the code considerably smaller, and look
better as well.
One final thing. The volume-control tooltips on the slider don't work
when the toolbar is floating. It draws the tooltips on the immediate
parent (i.e., the toolbar), but the toolbar doesn't have enough space,
so you only see the top-most part of the tooltip box.
