I don't really understand what that message was supposed to mean, but
since we're on the topic...
Mandrake 9.1 beta 1 came out this week. It includes wxWindows 2.4 with
unicode support as well as gtk AND gtk2 support. Mandrake 9.1 final
should be released in April. I assume there will be a new (post 1.1.1)
version of Audacity by then. Currently the cvs version will not compile
against wxWindows with unicode.
So I duuno what we'll do for 9.1 final. I doubt we'll disable unicode
just to get Audacity to compile. On the other hand, our voting system
(www.mandrakeclub.com) says Audacity is one of out users' favorite apps
right now, so we'd REALLY like a post 1.1.1 version in Mandrake 9.1.
I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do, since I'm not knowledgeable
enough to do it myself, but if someone can get unicode support into
Audacity by April, you will be making a lot of people happy.
(apparently at debian too!).
