Summary: High memory usage with lots of tracks
Version: CVS Trunk
OS/Version: Windows XP

"I encountered this with Audacity 1.2.0 pre3 on Windows XP with Pentium 4 2.8GHZ
and 256MB RAM. I did a live recording of a voice artist reading sentences from
a script. I stopped and started between sentences and ended up with 84 tracks
of between 12 seconds and 2 minutes each. I then tried to "solo" one track and
play it back. The Windows machine went into a flat spin for about 15 minutes. I
checked the Windows performance monitor and found that Audacity was trying to
allocate 594MB of RAM, obviously during the automatic "mix down" that hapenned
when I pressed play (even though I had chosen "solo" on one track). Windows was
swapping itself to death."
