Hi.

I am using Audacity 1.3.0 beta on Macintosh OS X having previously used version 1.2.3.

One thing I do often is to fade out at the end of some music and then silence a few seconds after this.

To do this, I select the fade-out period by clicking and dragging. I then do fade out from the effects menu. Then I grab the beginning of the selected area and drag it to the right, past the right end of the selected area so as to select the area that I want silenced. As the cursor passes the end of the selected fade-out area, that point automatically becomes the start of the new selected area.

In 1.3.0 beta, moving the beginning of the selected area past the end of the selected area does not work correctly. As the cursor passes the end of the selected area, that marker jumps to a different point. Thus, one can't select a new area that is contiguous to the previous area.

I've tried to explain this as best I can. A picture is worth a thousand words but I've tried to make words do the job.

Thanks for a good product.

.......Jeff
