Translating ACollab
With the next release of ATutor planned for the end of April 2004, ACollab will be available as a standalone group collaboration tool and as an addon for ATutor so instructors can conduct group activities as part of their teaching. Log into MyATutor to translate ACollab:

The ACollab standalone is now available for translation. ATutor translators are encouraged to log into the ATutor.ca Web site to translated the ACollab software. The translation site for ACollab is much like the translation site for ATutor: you can open the translation database in one browser window, and view your translation using ACollab in a second window as you enter new language into the database.... read more

Content created in ATutor can now be exported as IMS compliant content packages that can be viewed offline in the accompanying package viewer, imported back into another ATutor course, onto another ATutor server, into a learning objects repository, or into another IMS compliant LCMS. A Minor release is available that corrects problems some were experiencing exporting ATutor courses from Windows 2000 systems. Download the latest release from SourceForge.
If you are a Windows users, you should upgrade to V1.2.2. Linux (etc) users do not need to upgrade from V1.2 (though it doesn't hurt if you do).
Language Patch Release: fixes problems with the default
language not loading on some fresh installs of V1.2.
If you are installing ATutor for the first time, or upgrading
from version 1.1 or earlier, choose version 1.2.1.
If you had trouble with the default language loading when
you installed V1.2, then replace that version with V1.2.1
If you already have V1.2 installed and the language seems
to be displaying properly, then you don't need to update (It
doesn't hurt if you do)

The primary goal in developing ATutor V1.2 has been to add support for internationalization. We have created a database on the ATutor Web site for collecting ATutor language and generating new language packs. All that's left now, before the 1.2 release, is to complete the Spanish and French translations (within a few weeks). Since the initial ATutor release in Dec 2002 we have had many offers from translators. As a result we have focused our recent efforts on the creation of a translation database and a collection of online translation tools. ATutor is an adaptive learning environment and Web-based course authoring tool, created with PHP and MySQL, and available under the GNU GPL. It can be used to host multiple courses, to publish content in an interactive environment, or as an easy to install and administer courseware package for ISPs. ATutor can be adapted in many different ways to suit the preferences of each individual learner.
Version 0.9.6 is here. This pre release includes a bunch of bug fixes and some new features (chat, forums, user manangement,layout preference settings, and more).
