Hello. I wrote up 2591601, upgraded to 1.13.6, and am still having sporadic problems ripping CDs to MP3s in Windows. In this case, I ripped a whole CD and track 15 of 18 failed. But the program gave no error message. The log file says this:

INFO [CDDA2WAV ] Writing wav file for track 15 in file track15.wav
INFO [LAME ENCODER] Mp3 encoding process started... track14.wav -> 14 - Godchild.mp3
INFO [LAME ENCODER] Encoded ok!!
INFO [RIPPER ] Deleting wav file...
ERROR [CDDA2WAV ] --> Cdda2wav.cdda2wav [4] Process returned code 35584
INFO [CDDA2WAV ] Writing wav file for track 16 in file track16.wav
ERROR [RIPPER ] --> CdRipper$2.run [5] Rip failed. Skipping track 15...
INFO [CDDA2WAV ] Wav file ok!!

When I discovered the problem and went to the rip target folder, I saw a stranded track15.wav file.

    Unluckily I don't know what error code 35584 means. Does the track15.wav file play and is it complete? The ripping application seems to have encountered a problem with this tag.

    We should improve the error handling however.

    Yes, it plays, but stops a minute & a half into the song. That's halfway through the song -- the slider shows a three minute song.

    To be more specific, when I open it in Nero Media Player, it plays for a minute & a half and then just stops. In Windows Media Player, it plays for a minute & a half, then the music stops but the slider keeps going and it displays this message:

    "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

    I will try to attach the wav file.

    I think the file will not be of big use. It is likely either of the hardware or of cdda2wav is the source of the trouble. Does it always happen with the same CD's?

    It's not the same CD, b/c when I notice this kind of thing happening I can usually just re-rip the CD and it's fine the second time. So it happens sporadically. Would it help if I tried ripping to something other than mp3 format (e.g., ogg)?
