It is possible to clear the history entries in the notifications tab. However you can't clear the chat history. Over the time during a session there will be a lot of chat messages you don't need anymore. The text chat should have a clear button to clear the chat history. Another way would be a context menu on a chat history entry where you can delete all older messages. This way you can delete some of the chat history entries, but keep the recent chat messages which are still relevant for you. Or even some fancy cleanup where you can delete all messages from a given aircraft since the aircraft have left the MP or radar range.
Hmm, interesting thought, but we must be careful. Filtering options could be arbitrarily complex, and I think wiser NOT to add bloat to the text panel since it is nothing realistic anyway.
How about a single spin box option that filters out messages older than [choice] minutes? This would solve getting rid of junk in the window while still being in line with something realistic: the ability to play back tapes for a certain time (indeed ATCs do sometimes pull prior transmissions for various reasons).
OK I have introduced a "clear history" option in the "opts" menu, and added a "keep messages visible for" choice in the general settings. I think these are straightforward and fit nicely, whereas fancy things like filtering on callsigns ask for sophisticated GUI and account for nothing in the least realistic so opted to leave them out.
