#16 contour plot

Asymptote is an excellent software for scientific drawings.

But the contour plotting is still not implemented. I
have tried to write subroutines to do the job, but
finally I gave up.

Would you please consider to add this functionality in
the future releases? I think some features could be
considered, such as drawing the isolines using
different pens, filling the area between the isolines
using different colors or patterns, labeling the
isolines by values or custom labels, legends, etc.

Indeed, this is one of my students' projects for this
summer. We are going to look at a number of known
algorithms, particularly ones that handle nonsmooth data
well. If you can recommend one and are willing to try out
the result, please let us know.

In the meantime, you can use colour density plots (see
image.asy in the documentation directory). Contour plots
have not been a priority so far since in my opinion they
have been to some extent obsoleted by colour density plots
(except perhaps for publication in black-and-white journals).

These features are now available in the cvs version (and
very soon in the upcoming 1.07 release).
