Due to lack of available time, the Artistic Style project will not be continued as it has been in the past. After 15 years of maintaining the project I need to move on to other things. I had planned to have minimal updates every few years, but most formatting errors will not be fixed. If you or someone else wants to maintain the project please contact me at jimp03@email.com. Be aware that it takes a considerable amount of time to maintain and update the project.
If you want to try another formatter, clang-format added features in version 11 that bring it close to Artistic Style. It also has paid programmers and is more likely to be around 10 years from now. There is a new clang-format editor that will check your code and give you suggested options to use.
Thanks for using Artistic Style. It has been around since about 1995 and still has some life left if someone wants to maintain it.

That's very sad, and unfortunately this is not the first open source project I see in this status in recent time.
However I can understand your point. Actually I already struggle to maintain a couple of small open source projects, I can only image what means to maintain (maybe alone) such a project for 15 years. I use clang-format, and I discovered Artistic Style very recently looking at Arduino IDE.
Actually my question was more a curiosity than other.

Hi, after reading this post I contacted Jim and offered to join working on this. I know astyle for some time as it is part of the highlight utility (https://gitlab.com/saalen/highlight/). A beta branch was created in the sf.net repo which contains first bug fixes. In parallel there will be a gitlab repo which makes it easier for others to create pull requests.
In the next weeks I will use and enhance the astyle regression test scripts before preparing a new release.
The main goal will be bug fixing and providing a man page. New C like languages may be supported later (highlight already enables astyle formatting for more syntaxes).

Overall, amazed and elated to see Astyle alive and kicking and growing and seriously maintained, continuing to aid software developers for 25 years now since kicking this baby off.

Indeed Jim showed a lot of effort and endurance. A lot of people will not continue "their own" projects for so long.
