I've just had a look at ADOdb. Sounds like it would be perfect for a large application that wanted to be able to access just about ANY database. Unfortunately, I think it's a little TOO big for our little CDR module. I mean, I really only use 3 lines of database specific code, so it doesn't really seem worth the effort. I think creating our own abstraction layer is the way to go. How many people actually use PostgreSQL at the moment, by the way? Also, ADOdb doesn't support CSV files so I'd have to write an adstraction for that anywayz. I can't see any of this being too difficult, and ADOdb looks like a pain to setup for something as small as AstWeb. If Asterisk starts to support more databases we'll have a look at it again then.
