In the "Lore" section of the Astral Revolutions web page (http://astral-revol.sourceforge.net/)m you can find information about the game's world. It is mostly complete, except some finishing touches, such as minor expansions and graphics. Anyway, it should be enough for this stage. I would suggest that anyone that wants to be involved in the game should study this info for a bit. Any corrections/additions/changes that you might want to be proposed will be discussed through the mailing list. The next thing I have in mind is generating material for a small demo. That would be a way to give a more clearer concept of the game world, and also useful experience in making it happen. I'll be working on the scenario of this small adventure in the next days. The general idea I have is about this: Tim is a young planetouched human, and he spends periods of time, weeks at a time either on the Material or the Astral plane. While he's Astral, his body continues to operate in the Material Plane, but he sees his actions only through the Astral point of view. So, we start out on the material plane, showing a cutscene of Tim meeting some girl in a party and leaving with her. After that, Tim goes astral, and finds himself in a cosy, romantic, pretty large room... pillows, candles... the lot. Somewhere there will be a small window, and someone will be watching, giggling. The room will be closed by a thin but unopenable curtain, and the goal will be to get out of the room (that should be about 2 or 3 screens). As the player exits the room, Tim goes material again, and finds himself ending a loud conversation, telling his new-ex-girlfriend how confined he felt being with her, and how they should break up. I think that I'd like to put some riddle somewhere in the room, of those you zoom in on some panel and do stuff :) Any Idea 'd be nice. Deva |

I added some stuff in the Lore section of the website... The work on the scenario will be split in 2 sections, like, lore and story. The first has to do with creating the world, and whatever's ready will be posted on the site -for all to see-, and the second one is specifically about what happens in the game, which will be uploaded on the CVS. This is because I think that posting the game story on the site would spoil the gaming experience for those who just want to play the game. Nyway, both sections will be discussed here... feel free to point out any gaps you think the thing has, and to suggest any ideas you may have (so I can reject them ;) ) |
