I have had very good luck with the LEX NEO/TWISTER Via based platforms ... 3 or 4 NIC's ... Some models have 1gb NIC ... CPU is C3 @ 1ghz ... Design is fanless and packaging is billet aluminum built like a tank ... Not a lot of waste gadgetry ... Has CF socket but have not messed with any that included mini-pci ... This may be an option that I just never had any need for so it may be available on some models ... Have worked with a couple that had PCMCIA and CF ... These are not cheap and average $350-600 for barebones depending on config ... The NEO is very small but will fit a 2.5in HD if you want ... The TWISTER is a little bigger and will fit a 2.5in HD and a single PCI card in the box ... a US Vendor is http://shopping.hacom.net/catalog/ ... Sounds like it will be available in the March/April time frame, compared to the summer time frame for the WRAP follow-on. I guess it's safe to assume AstLinux 0.5 will be supporting those two upcoming platforms. I was poking around looking for VIA based devices similar to the Soekris and WRAP though, but it seems an awful lot of VIA stuff that an ordinary consumer can buy has unnecessary stuff, like VGA, PS/2, and extra serial ports. Do people here have any particular VIA recommendations for a WRAP style board with 3 ethernet ports and a miniPCI slot, preferably fanless with a CF slot? > Hi, > > Soekris has net4801's with no EOL issues mentioned on their website. > Maybe they stocked up on the SC1100? > > Also, coming sometime in 2007... > net5501, 433 to 600 Mhz AMD Geode LX > http://www.soekris.com/net5501.htm > > Lonnie > > > On Feb 19, 2007, at 12:09 AM, ast...@el... wrote: > >> Hi all, >> >> >> I am fooling around with a WRAP board now, but I was thinking about >> maybe getting other similar hardware.
