[Astlinux-users] Using alternative codecs for SIP stations

I=27ve had a search through the list for this problem=2C but couldn=27t fin=
d an answer=2E Sorry if I=27ve missed it=2E

I=27ve got Astlinux 0=2E4=2E0 running on a pretty beefy box=2E I want to ex=
periment with codecs other than alaw and ulaw =28I=27m especially intereste=
d in gsm and ilbc=29 but when I try and force my phone =28Aastra 9133i=29 a=
nd Asterisk to use other codecs by rearranging their order in sip=2Econf=20=
=28both in general and in the section for my Aastra=29=2C it ignores the co=
dec order and just uses alaw=2E If I disallow alaw and ulaw=2C then the cal=
l is dropped=2E The extension I=27m calling is the built-in speaking clock=
 application so the call is kept internally as a sip call=2E The only other=
 codec I=27ve successfully managed to use apart from alaw and ulaw is g726=
 which sounded awful=2E

Is the Aastra not compatible with other codecs=3F

Any ideas about how to get the other codecs to work would be much appreciat=
ed!
