[Astlinux-users] Losing PPPoE packets on congestion

Sorry if I have asked this before but if my traffic shaping is set wrong, e.g. to 2M when the upstream is 1M, could I lose PPPoE packets on upstream congestion such that the far end resets the connection?
This appeared to be happening at one of our sites and it was fine when I set the shaping correctly.

If so, is there anything I can do to prevent it happening other than getting the shaping correct?
Unfortunately with copper connections, and the pretty poor copper in this country, speeds do change over time. Maybe I need to set up Zabbix for some better monitoring.
