[Astlinux-users] Fxotune

Help

I realise that fxotune will be available in the next release however could
someone please tell me how I can get this installed before my wife throws my
box out the window.

Sorry for my newbiness but I have found the binary relevant to my Zaptel
version (got it from another distribution) and put it in sbin. It appears to
find the file ok but I get a '-sh: /sbin/fxotune: No such file or
directory'. This is with Asterisk stopped and the filesystem in read write.

Please can anyone save my system from ultimate destruction.

You cannot copy fxotune or any other binary from a different 
distribution, unless it is based on uclibc. 

Your best bet as of right now is to download the svn trunk version of 
the development environment and build it.  Other than that, be really 
nice to someone, and they just might make you an image on say, Sunday 
maybe.  Of course said person would have to know what version of the 
image you would like.  (generic i586, via, soekris etc).  I can't 
guarantee my availability on Sunday, but I think I should have time to 
generate an image and stick it on a site for you.

I created a generic i586 image and have it hosted here:

It is based on a 64MB image size (I don't know the exact minimum size it 
could be, but it was larger than 48MB and I didn't have time to do trial 
and error testing to determine a better size).  For most people that 
won't matter anyway as it's hard to find compact flash modules smaller 
than 128MB these days.

  Thanks for doing this!

  Now that trunk builds reliably for all of the supported
architectures, does it make sense to do a daily build?  Is anyone

  Which distro did you install in the VMWare environment?  Which
version?  Which architecture?  What architecture are you trying to
compile for?

I don't think AMD Opteron (64-Bit) is currently supported as host system
where you can run the dev environment on. Please try again on a 32-bit bo=

  Last time I checked, it worked fine...  I use to test it inside of a
CentOS vmware environment on an Opteron - just like Olivier.

hmm, did he test inside a vmware (32-bit) on an opteron (64-bit) or did
Olivier install the dev kit on the opteron (64-bit) directly?

I can only give you some general hints/advises. Smarter people on this
list may have other/better hints.

- some CF readers aren't bootable, you are sure, yours is?
- is your system booting from /dev/hda or from /dev/sda? Do you get the
message '/dev/sda1 is not bootable' from your system? By default
astlinux boots from /dev/hda1

You may want to check this and give us more input (error messages,
equipment used)

I have compiled for generic I586, flashed a cf and tried to boot a
Soekris... doesn't work...<br>
I have now flashed an usb HD with the same image and booted another pc
with it, no problems anymore...<br>

Great, that it finally works for you!

Regarding adding a new feature means adding a new package. You can check
the other packages and take an easy one as template to start with.
However, in case of pear I am not sure, if this is a separate package or
if it integrates with the php package (i am not deep enough into this
combo - others here may help further).

The missing * in fdisk is normal and you don't have to worry. It's the
bootable flag, but as you noticed, the system is booting nevertheless ;)
If you like to have the boot flag set, you can do this while running
fdisk to create the .img file.

What I don't get is WHY the 64bit mode?  Where is that coming from?  Are=20
you running the dev environment in a 64bit host?  Since the majority of=20
the development work has been done on CentOS (32bit), I'd strongly=20
recommend installing vmware and a CentOS4 32bit install in a virtual=20
machine.

Also, the makeimage.sh script must be executed as root (for now). That's=20
the ONLY part of the development build that should be done as root. =20
Everything else should be done as a mortal user.
