The idea with the applet is a good one. If we sign the applet it could even be used to connect to a local Asterisk server behind a firewall or to localhost so users can try it with their own server. Have you seen the SwingSet2 demo that comes with the JDK? Its a Swing application that shows all the controls along with the source code (in another tab). Something like that as an applet could work for AJ, too.
