If you receive a TimeoutException this indicates that Astersik does not
return a Response to your Action.
I just tried your code with Asterisk CVS-HEAD and it I dont get any
timeout. What version of Asterisk and Asterisk-Java do you use?

It would help if you could send me a trace of the conversation between
Asterisk and your application.

[Asterisk-java-users] Timeout when hanging up

I'm trying something which is probably a little unusual.
Basically I want to check if a number is inservice or out of service.
I do this by dialing the number and if it rings I instantly drop the 
connection by hanging up.

The code basically works fine however the hangup action is throwing a 
timeout even though the line is successfully hung up.
Even if I set the time to 30 seconds a timeout still occurs, where as 
the sip phone I'm dialing hangs up immediately.

Interestingly as soon as the hangup times out I get a HangupEvent.

So I thought it might be worth posting the code here for inspection and

originate: yes via OriginateAction
transfer: yes via RedirectAction
hold: not directly - but you can fake it by redirecting the channel to
music on hold
record: yes via MonitorAction and StopMonitorAction
hangup: yes via HangupAction

So we finally found the cause for the "no agi script configured for ..."
error when using Asterisk-Java's FastAGI modules:
The Asterisk server was still at version 1.0.3 and that one misses some
variables in the AGIContext that is needed to identify the java class tha=
t
should be run.
So be sure to use a recent version of Asterisk with the AGI stuff (best i=
s
1.0.9) or the new 1.2-beta2 if you are brave.

The best solution for the underlying requirement is probably to put the
IAX accounts into a database that can be accessed from your application
and Asterisk. You need Asterisk 1.2 and its realtime feature for this to
work.

Thats what i find so strange. If there is no fastagi-mapping.properties
you get an error and if you put a wrong class into the mapping file you
get an error, too. So if there is no error it should be fine.

Yes that was my idea, too. So I just tried it on windows and it works
fine, too.

I also think my problem is very very strange... I also have tried a lot =
of things, one of these were including a newline at the end of the =

your problem sounds really strange. Are you sure you are looking at the
right fastagi-mapping.properties file (that is the one in
C:\ASTERISK-JAVA)?
Maybe you need a trailing newline in properties files or sth like that on
windows.

If it still doesnt work we'll have to add some debugging code and try it
that way.

Its kinda strange:
1.0.x does only support local (channel) variables for both GetVar and Set=
Var
1.2 supports local and global variables for GetVar but local variables
only for SetVar.

Maybe its time for another asterisk patch ;)

At least with the 1.2 series it should be possible to use the
SetVarAction whith channel set to null to set a global variable.
The comments javadoc are not really up to date.
