That might explain the delay that you encounter, because 10 is the default pool size. You can adjust it in a properties file as shown in the tutorial. I have no idea what might be the cause for the prompts being played twice and never encountered that. Maybe you can trace it if you enable AGI debugging on Asterisk - but if its hard to reproduce... =3DStefan --=20 reuter network consulting Neusser Str. 110 50760 Koeln Germany Telefon: +49 221 1305699-0 Telefax: +49 221 1305699-90 E-Mail: sr...@re... |

I don't like posting spam messages here and i don't think creating fear to acquire customers will get you anywhere. Stop spreading gossip about a lack of documentation and start contribution to a great community. If Asterisk configuration is that hard for you maybe that is rather a sign of your limited capabilities than a sign of a complex system. If you enable people providing useful support for free on the mailing list they will value you and your company and may ask you for commercial support when they really need it - not because they fear Asterisk's complexity but because they value your support. =3DStefan --=20 reuter network consulting Neusser Str. 110 50760 Koeln Germany Telefon: +49 221 1305699-0 Telefax: +49 221 1305699-90 E-Mail: sr...@re... I have been experiencing a strange problem over the past 2 weeks. I wanted to find out if anyone has experienced anything similar. This has happened about 3 or 4 times. I have an Asterisk-Java app using the AGI interface. Simply it answers a call, plays some prompts, and collects DTMF. What has happened is that I have called in and the initial prompt plays twice. I also note a long delay in the start of the prompts playing. I have not timed the delay but it is on the order of 20-30 seconds. When the prompts play they sound very clear, no stutter or other audio problems that would indicate a possible network issue. Any ideas on similar experiences or how to attack troubleshooting this would be appreciated. It has been very difficult to investigate since the problem does not seem to last for a long time. The last incident this morning was only about 5 mins from the time I became aware of the issue. Thank you, Jonathan Augenstine |

Can you keep your spam off the asterisk-java-users list? You post had absolutely nothing to do with Asterisk-java. One final point, if you're going to write your marketing pitch in English, you may want to make sure it is grammatically correct. Hello, I have a small example program that handle all events generated by an asterisk server, and although it works ok I am getting in the logs the following message: Unable to set property 'callerid' on class net.sf.asterisk.manager.event.ExtensionStatusEvent: no setter Any ideas ? Fred, It is not directly related to your question, but are you using an IDE such as Eclipse? That will greatly speed up your development if you are not already using one. Fred, Have you considered buying a custom Asterisk system along training ? Having a fully functionnal Asterisk system running and complying to your requirements just needs a couple of hours for experienced staff but it asks days and weeks of labour if one has to learn by himself from scratch (reading mailing lists itself, consumes much time and ressources ). I'm running a french 6 people startup dedicated to Asterisk consulting and services. As our customer base grows, I'm warning more and more oftenly, prospective or old customers about what they can really hope with Asterisk home customisation : - If you operate a single system, it's very very likely you won't have the opportunity to tune it or to try and learn with it : you spend weeks of labour to make it run and then, you won't touch it anymore because you can't stop your running system. So in the end, what are the benefits ? You've learned something you won't use anymore. - It's easy to specify programming interfaces and plug a Java software and tune that application. But Asterisk deals with hardware and real time, and believe me, it can be very very long to master its behaviour. - Moving or adding users takes a couple of minutes. It's not necessary to customise yourself your system to avoid paying anything for that (you can be trained on that) but adding a queue, for example, will remain out of reach of most. - It's Open Source but adding any significant feature is a dream for most companies as the learning curve is very very steep (no documentation, no training, ...) Please, feel free to contact me off-list. Best wishes for your project. Olivier |

Hi there guys I'm now doing some more tests. Successfully running an AGI server and starting to play with scripts. As I'm often modifying my main Java class (the one that gets called accordingly to fastAGI mappings), I need the AGI server to be aware of class changes. On first shot I just manually stopped and relaunched my AGIserver. Then I had the idea to use Asterisk's reload command and an AGImanager in wich I watch for "net.sf.asterisk.manager.event.ReloadEvent" events. So each time such an event is recieved, I decided to shutdown current server, spawn a new one, and start it up. This way of doing does work (only once, though. i.e. server doesn't get shutdown and respawned on subsenquent Asterisk's "reloads"). Plus, something tells me I'm not doing it the "right" way. Any hints ? -- Fred |

If you want to manage dialplan and SIP users from your Java application you might want to have a look at Asterisk RealTime though and place your config in a database that is easy to manage externally. At the risk of offending people with some advertisement ... BEGIN ADVERTISEMENT My business partner and I will be releasing a prototype of a product in a short time with an automated calling component in it. It will be openly available for download and we will be looking for feedback and other parties interested in this domain. One of the technologies it uses is asterisk-java. If you want to find out more then contact me directly at: to...@am... Unfortunately, troubles came when I made my first tests with Java. Fedora uses GCJ and not SUN's Java, so I got issues when trying to connect to a MySQL server with JDBC. So I'm still looking around to find a good distro for Java developpement. I gave myself a few days to look around and test a few ones, starting with SuSE, tomorrow (wish me luck :P) Considering the Apps I'm gonna build, well, it goes from company PBX (usual VoIP phone routing and call management) to brand new developpement for the same company wich offers software solution for "bank-to-bank" communications. Next big project is to build an automated calling system for those banks. So they can issue calls to their debitors to ask for paiments. All this will include some Text To Speech. I still need to look around and find a good TTS technology to use. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. Earn Cash. I thought I had to remove the GC Java before installing Sun's. Which I did with "yum remove ...". But as a matter of dependencies, a lot of apps got "broken". So I guess I'm gonna stick with Fedora (that is, redo a fresh install) and get Sun's alongside GCJ. As you guessed, I'm quite new to linux, but learning fast (hopefully :) ). thanx again |

I don't think the linux distros are allowed to distribute sun's jdk, otherwise they would probably include it out of the box. I'm using sun's jdk with Fedora (3 and 5), and it works just fine. Cam |

While all the fuss it implies :( If you are developing on windows go with the vmware solution suggested by tony. trixbox offers a nice vmware image. This setup will require a powerful dev machine, but hey, since you are developing java apps you will already have one anyway ;) If you are developing on linux you probably already chose a linux distribution and setting up asterisk there shouldn't be too hard. Asterisk really works well with all of the more common distributions. > Well, enough ranting, I'm diving back into javadoc to see where I'm gon= na =20 > start with. would you mind telling us what kind of application you are about to build= ? =3DStefan --=20 reuter network consulting Neusser Str. 110 50760 Koeln Germany Telefon: +49 221 1305699-0 Telefax: +49 221 1305699-90 E-Mail: sr...@re...
