I have a number of mono images that I was trying to merge into a colour image.
It is a bit difficult to understand how to do this but I believe I should be selecting 'Classify by image filter'.
I then browsed and loaded the 45 L , 15 R, 15 G and 15 B filtered images.
The images for each filter reside in their own sub-directories named L,R,G and B respectively.
I then browsed to each of the directories and loaded all the files.
I had already loaded a stacked dark and 4 stacked flat files for L,R,G and B.
I then ran the stacking (sigma clip average) and after it completed it had created 3 different files
2 in the L directory
proxima_centauri_b1g1T-15_1m_L_045@ 51xFD 51xF 74xD 45xL_stacked.fits
PROXIMA_CENTAURI_B1G1T-15_1M, 2021-07-29, 15x60G 45x60L, Losmandy Gemini, (G L), QSI CCD_stacked.fits
and 1 in the G directory
proxima_centauri_b1g1T-15_1m_G_015@ 51xFD 51xF 74xD 15xG_stacked.fits
There were no additional files created in the R and B directories.
I was hoping that it would create 4 different stacked and aligned files, 1 for each filter, but this not happen.
My attempts to colour balance the file loaded into the image screen was not very successful but that may be due to me not understanding what to do.
I am running this on Mac OS 10.15.7 and using ASTAP version ß0.9.560, 64 bit, dated 2021-7-14.
Is what I am describing above a problem or am I doing something wrong?
'Classify by image filter' has to be checked, that is correct.
Furthemore it has to recongnise which files are taken with the red, green, blue or luminance filter. Looks like this is not happening. The files header a keyword FLITER should have specified the filter name. The same filter name should be specified in the tab "stack menthod" . See screenshot in the manual:
http://www.hnsky.org/astap.htm#stack_menu2
Only if the names match you will see (after analyse again ) coloured icons in the LIGHT tab as in this screenshot:
http://www.hnsky.org/astap_stack_menu.png
In the fits header the filters are named behind the keyword FILTER. Example
FILTER = 'Red ' / Filter name
If your files do not contain a keyword FILTER, you could add by the selecting the files and with the popup menu of tab lights use the menu "Add keywords to selected files"
Ask any other question if required.
Clear skies, Han
Han,
The solution was to match the filter names in the tab “stack method” which was not obvious to me.
Thanks for your assistance.
