I don't know if this is another Apple Silicon issue or something else.
The Clean-up is working for other options I have tried.

The reason is that all unknown star observations are written to the header as annotations. The reason this was implemented it is useful for batch processing you can star from tab lights. The finds are then permanent stored in the file header. See popup menu of the lights tab, "Batch processing selected files".
So it is a feature, not a bug. To remove the anotation you could either reload the file or remove the annotation lines from the header or switch off displaying annotation in viewer menu "View"

I will add a message to the log mentioning the annotations. That will be clearer for user :)
