Without reading any manual, I have installed programme and run the stacking procedure using my light frames, flats, darks and flat darks and it output a very large image file 62Meg which it said was compliant with FITS.
Great start as all the other packages are totally overwhelming with so any parameters to adjust.
Now I have started to read the manual, it states that I need to download a star database.
Initially I only need to calibrate images for upload to AAVSO VPhot for photometry.
So general question, where to start and specific:
First question of many probably, why do I need a star database?
Is it anything to do with plate solving (which is needed for VPhot)
Does ASTAP do that for me?
Be gentle please, beginner.
I have the following set up:
StellaMira 90mm ED triplet
FL 600mm
ZWO – AISI 1600MM Pro
FOV 1.69 x 1.28 deg
Baader Bessel Photometric B&V filters
ASIAIR Plus
