The problem is caused by the long focal length resulting in a small fov and faint stars only. You will need the G18 star database up to magnitude 18. Then it solves without a problem. The G18 you can download as zip file only. Unpack it somewhere and copy the 290 files to either c:\program files\astap or for Linux to /opt/astap. Remove or uninstall first the existing G17 database. If you use a Mac tell me.

An other trick is to reduce the maximum number of stars to use to 40 or 50 but is less reliable. The same happens if you expose shorter then 300 seconds.

    Clear skies, Han

    Test with G18:
    17:04:48 Solution found: 13: 55 43.4 +40° 26 37 Solved in 0,4 sec. Offset was 0,177 deg. Used stars up to magnitude: 18,0

I have now created now installers for the g18 stardatabase. See installer links at:
    http://www.hnsky.org/astap.htm

Set the g18 in settings tab "alignment" or simple remove the G17.

How that's what I call service Han!

I have installed G18 (the old way as soon as I got your email) and ASTAP
is solving great on existing images just need to try it at the scope
      now, using Nina.

I must say the speed is very impressive, fastest on my PC 0.1 sec but
      averaging at about 0.5sec
      :)

I did try to do a mosaic and the first one was fab using the astrometric
setting. The mosaic i tried wouldn't solve, but I do need to try it
again as there might genuinely have not been enough stars available to
enable a solve due to bright skies and poor conditions.
