I install the new D20 database and set this to be the database to use in the GUI alignment tab. In the field I use the command line to do platesolving. I note that in the command line execution, it still uses H18 database. Is the option -d required to reset the database, and if yes, what should be the value to put after -d. Thanks

    Hi,

The option -d is only for the path. It is not possible to specify the database in the command-line.

The program should select the D20 instead of the H18 unless you set it manually at H18. Try the following:

Start ASTAP. Load a file and select in tab "alignment" for the database "auto". Save this settings by clicking on the "solve button to save this setting or leave the program via viewer menu "File", "Exit (save settings)". That should work. Tell me if it doesn't work.

    Han

Tried the suggested steps, no luck.

I am using a Raspberry Pi version (installed early 2023). In the GUI version, I can see both H18 and D20 in the alignment tab. I specify D20 and note that even in the GUI version, the solve use H18 (read from the console on the lower part of the stack menu). So apparently the program stick to using H18 dis-regarding the setting. Hence if the GUI is stucked, then the CLI follows. Do astap store the setting in some config file where I can alter manually?

Sorry to add more info. I did find the config file. In this file the database listed IS D20. But during the solving process the console says it is using the H18. I also look into the /opt/astap directory and found both D20 and H18 files. So installation is OK. The version is use is 2022.11.16.

The ASTAP version is the problem The D20 database was introduced only a few months ago 2023-3-17. You just have to update ASTAP. The newer ASTAP should select D20.

OK, do I need to uninstall the old version before installing the new one? If so, how to uninstall as this is a standalone deb file not in the OS repo.
