    PGSUGG - 2023-05-26

Maybe someone can help me. I am not real computer savvy. I've been using ASTAP in conjunction with NINA for a couple yeas now with no problems. Last night NINA gave me the message that it could not solve using ASTAP because of an "old database" -works great and usually no problems solving - I have the h18 database installed. This leads me to several questions:
Should I move to the D50, D20 or D5? What is the difference between these dbases?
Should I completely uninstall ASTAP and the h18 database files and start all over fresh?

There is no hurry but in the long run you better move to the D50 database. The D50 will be fine in all cases (field-of-view) The D20 and D05 can be used if your field-of-view is large just to save space. So just go to the D50.

The H18 is a star database with a limiting magnitude in this case 18. The D50 database is not limited on magnitude but on star density. In this case to 5000 star/square degree. It will work better for small field-of-view.

    So I would suggest:

    1) Install the D50.
    2) Install the latest ASTAP.
    3) Uninstall the H18 to make space.

There is no need to uninstall ASTAP.

Great! Thanks Han. I updated to ASTAP 2023.05.26 and installed the D50 db.
Will give it a go tonight and see how it goes.
Thanks for a great program! Always works well for me -(unless I do something stupid!)
