Yes the stars seems to have a faint halo and for this variable it forms a bridge to the neighbouring star. Star detection fails here.
What you could do to cope with this problem is to copy & paste a little part of the black sky and paste it to the neighbouring star. Then it locks. See attached. This menu is in the viewer popup menu, "copy paste tool"
Are the many images to measure? This can be laborious.
Since your doing photometry. Can you have a look to the new development version 2024-01-03:
I just fixed the copy & paste tool in the latest development version for Windows. If you are using another operating system tell me.
To fix the 150 image best is to write in a batch routine a black area at the location of the star "bridge". The system currently sees that bridge as a galaxy an refuses to lock.

Hello Han,
when trying to manual select the variable star ASASSN-V J091116.89+351700.8 to do photometry for it, it can' t be selected.
Other stars in the neigbourhood are working well. Its magnitude is not shown, when choosing Magnitude ( measured ) annotation.
Example file attached.
Thank you,
Mario

With this version you can select multiple COMP stars.

Hello Han,
thank you for the quick reply. I'll try your trick with copy and paste some background pixels.
Yes there are 150 images taken as this is a short period variable star.
using more comp stars is welcommed and will also be tested.
Mario
150 images is a lot to process manually. Probably it is easier to redo the image with a better setup. Those halo's are they caused by the filter?
If it is important, I could create something custom to fix the 150 images. Just tell me.
I noticed the "copy paste tool" is missing the dotted rectangle box when you move the copied area around. Something to fix.

The Linux version was not updated due to a batch failure. Just updated now to v2025.02.03
I found an other bug in the development version. I have updated ASTAP again today. If you find something else you could join this discussion:
