My recent solves worked well so I do not know what happens here. I tried to solve a series of 120 already dark / flat corrected fits images (for photometry) but received the same error for all images:
18:38:46 G:\astro\Lyr\Lyr EZ\lights\lc\lc.cmpack-files\tmp00011.fts Adding astrometric solution to files to allow flux to magnitude calibration using the star database.
18:38:46 Using star database V50
18:38:47 1005 stars, 826 quads selected in the image. 666 database stars, 547 database quads required for the 3.00° square search window. Step size 3.00°.
18:38:47 No solution found! :(
18:38:47 G:\astro\Lyr\Lyr EZ\lights\lc\lc.cmpack-files\tmp00011.ftsUncheck, no astrometric solution found for this file. Can't measure magnitude!
The images are from my standard setup of a 300 mm lens and APS-C sensor (fov 4.5° x 3.0°). Same ASTAP setup that I have used successfully so far: star alignment, hash code tol. 0.007, no downsampling, fov 3° and started from the photometry tab context menu with "refresh astrometrical solution of selected files".
The star images are round and there is very little field movement between images. I have added a sample image. Does anybody have an idea what went wrong?
There is no info in the file header. That is no problem but it requires a full 180 degree search. Just set the search range to 180 degrees as attached and the field-of-view (height at 3 degrees. Then it will solve
See attached. Got to stack menu ctrl+A, tab alignment
Han, that did the job. Thanks, good hint. Might be a good idea to add this workaround in the manual, as an empty file header might be more frequent than imagined.

Success, Han

I have mentioned it the manual as "blind solve" but yes it is unfortunately it is not equipped with AI :).
