0n several images, when I request an HFD measurement fom Astrophotography Tool or via the ASTAP command line(analyze) the number of stars is over 64000.
Do you know why this is happening?
Thanks
Jack

I have attached a jpeg image. (APT uses jpeg images for HFD analyze).
This is not a great image since I am having some guiding problems, but I have see worse images give an HFD result that does not give a star count of 65408.

There are no stars detected. So this high value must be a kind of default.
It is a very strange image. Half of he pixels are very black with pixel value around 500. The other half of the pixels have a value around 50000. See attached. I assume that your camera green channel is broken. What kind of camera are your using?

Hi Jack,
Maybe the HFD of the stars involved is too large. Can you send me a sample image?
