ASTAP solver problems

My ASTAP installation no longer wants to solve directly (both Linux and Windows), not even with known position.

I also tried batch solving with Astrometry.net (used to work fine) but now gives a message 'can't find Astrometry.net program, check path' -- I didn't change it since last time I used it.

However the path for 'solve-field' is under /usr/bin and still solves fine in a Linux terminal.
The data index files are under /usr/share, but the /usr/bin option in ASTAP no longer works

Has something changed in ASTAP ?

Any suggestion would be welcome how to reset or restore the Astrometry.net solving path

    Best Regards
    Tom

    Hi Tom,

There hasn't changed much in the solver in the last year. The last major change was adding SIP polynomial factor more then a year ago. The databases/index files could be either in

    /opt/astap
    /usr/share/astap/data/

But /usr/share/astap/data/ is ignored if /opt/astap exists.

What is ASTAP reporting when you try to solve an image in the GUI?
You could try to reset all setting under menu FILE, SETTINGS
Or try a blind solving https://www.hnsky.org/astap.htm#solvable

You can select the astrometry.net path in the astrometry.net batch menu window. See screenshot

Tell me if you get this fixed. If not ask again for advice

    Han
