I tried to stack 100+ moon subs using averaging and it came out a blown out moon. Is there another way to stack in ASTAP that would work?

    Hi Keith,

No unfortunately stacking of Moon or planets is not possible. ASTAP can only align using stars. The only thing I added is an option to measure the sharpness of Moon images in the tab light. I did this just for myself to find the best single images of a long series of Moon images.

Yes you can at least use ASTAP to analysis your images and pick out the sharpest one then stack them in some other piece of software. ASTAP does this pretty fast while other software takes a very long time to do this. So it can cut down processing time significantly. I have had planetary software take almost an entire day to analyze images while ASTAP does it in about an hour.

This is already available and I use it for Moon images. It just measures sharpness allowing me to find the sharpests Moon images. See attached screenshot. It is in tab lights.

    Cheers, Han

the bad files in the list you could bulk rename to .bak extension with the popup menu. But note all files will be first converted to .fits
