Hi Han

It’s a Manjaro/debtap issue and not related to ASTAP or HNSKY.

For anyone else who may be interested see :

Sorry for the bother!

Tks Han for trying to replicate the problem.

I will try to install from the tarball - the prob may be a result of using the .deb package and debtap which converts to a .pkg for Arch/Manjaro. But this has previously worked for me more reliably than untarring.

I am new to Linux (well, any programming) but understood that the !/ makes the script executable eg as per

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8777190/what-is-the-use-meaning-of-bin-sh-in-shell-scripting

Which in turn suggests to me that (as astap is now installed) that script may be no longer required and the file can be deleted.

Any thoughts?

Hello Richard,

At the moment it is unclear for me why there is a problem. I have reinstalled both programs in Lubuntu again using Gdebi and no problem occurred.

The preinstall contains:

!/bin/sh

exit 0

So the first line is commented out. ASTAP is installed at /opt/astap
HNSKY is installed at /opt/hnsky

The only other thing what happening, the installer is putting a menu file at /usr/share/applications

Could you try an other installer?
or try to install using the command line:
sudo dpkg -i ./package_file.deb

My knowledge of Linux is limited. Worst case you could download the tar version and unpack it at your home directory in something like ~/hnsky The supporting supplement files have to be installed at the hidden directory ~/.hnsky . anyhow but they are not essential to start.

Regards, Han
