Hi Han,
since 3 months very often I get the attached error message, when I start 'variable star annotation'. The area is always known in the AAVSO database. After many tries, sometime it works, sometimes not. Its regardless if i select the local database or the Online-Gaia-V.
Regards Achim
errors
0 "The faintest magnitude limit allowed for charts larger than 180 arcminutes is 12. Please try a smaller field of view or a brighter magnitude limit."
detail "There are errors in the given parameter
And a status code 400 for some reason.

in addition: Star areas, which worked in the past, still work OK.
it's not a matter of file size (11MB .. 240MB) or the orientation any or north.
Check NGC1097 or NGC 7029 areas - both error.

I will have a look tonight. Do you think it is location related? If so, can you attach one image of such an area?
Han
It's related to the image size.
Original size 9576x6388 = Fail
Cropped to 6855x5271 = Fail
Cropped to 3051x2833 = OK

I can now reproduce it. It assume it is a generic error from the online server. Something like this:
It takes a few minutes before it is generated. Maybe the request should be done for the center of the image.
I will look into this more in detail.
I still think it caused by using the online annotation. That does reproduce it. E.g.
https://app.aavso.org/vsp/api/chart/?format=json&ra=313.856281&dec=44.028358&fov=281&maglimit=13.0000
Gives this response:

I have uploaded a development version with the 3 degree limitation. Can you try this one?

Tell me if this works. I expect that the setting as attached was activated.
Regards, Han
Thanks, Han, that works --- and in all annotation limits. :-))
