The ability to add the HyperLeda annotations adds greatly to my enjoyment of the hobby (especially during galaxy season when an image might contain evidence of dozens of distant galaxies).
I find myself wanting to look up more information about some of these (which is not always easy to find for non-PGC objects), but it is tedious to type in the identifiers by looking at the ASTAP screen or a saved jpg.
Is there a table or list of objects annotated in an image available somewhere that I haven't found yet? Is the ability to export the list as text something that could be added without too much trouble?
Cheers,
Ron
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
Have you tried the popup online query? You can select a single galaxy or a larger field and Simbad will display in your browser all objects within the that field. The list you can copy past to a spreadsheet.
Usage:
Hold the right mouse button down and pull a rectangle around the object of interest. Release the button and select in the popup menu "Online query", "Simbad online query". Then the object info or list of objects should be displayed in your browser.
I had not realized one could right-click-drag. The Simbad database does well on the PCG and 2MASX objects, but does not include the ones ASTAP gives SDSS identifiers (those often have little or no information other than a designation, but a fair number have basic spectroscopy. I'm guessing that more Quasars carry SDSS vs 2MASX (but I have no basis for that - I'm still new at this).

Thanks Han!

In the HyperLeda they prefer to keep the first designation like the SDSS
I can do the same online request for the HyperLeda database. something like this:
http://leda.univ-lyon1.fr/fG.cgi?n=a000&c=o&p=J%2012h%2020%20m%2030.00%20s%20-33%20d%2014%20m%2010%20s&f=25&ob=ra
I will make something.
Awesome! Thank you very much, Han.
I have added HyperLeda and NED online database search in development version 2022-4-10
Try this Windows development version. If you need Linux or Mac version tell me.
