WCS data is normally put in the header by Astrometry.net solver or the ASTAP solver. Then it used by the program to calculate the RA, DEC position for each pixel or where the cursor is. Or the WCS data is used to annotate AAVSO or UID stars in the image or to call up an chart from the AAVSO server.
In ASTAP you can copy or paste WCS data from or in the header. Is that your question?
